The role of the DCAE platform is to manage service-assurance applications that run as a collection of micro-services. Part of that role is the deployment/undeployment, health monitoring, etc. for the component micro-services.
Since the DCAE platform is reasonably complex, and needs the ability to orchestrate and manage micro-services, it would make sense to allow it to bootstrap itself, either standalone, or as directed by the OOM. The DCAE controller is thus responsible for deploying and managing the sub-components as well as the service-assurance applications. OOM is responsible for deploying the DCAE controller. Since both OOM and the DCAE controller are based on the Common Controller Framework, it would be more correct to state that “Some of DCAE Controller’s paradigms would be moved into CCF”. — Christopher A. I hope guys for OOM could help to figure it out. To my understanding, one of the responsibilities of OOM is to manage the lifecycle of the ONAP components, as is mentioned on the page "The users can also deploy ONAP instances, a component, or a change to a software module within a component". But for some components, they have their own controllers to manage the lifecycle of their sub-components. Take DCAE for example, onboarding of microservices is currently being performed by the DCAE controller for analytics applications and data collectors. How does OOM cope with such kind of scenario? Will OOM take over the responsibility of the lifecycle management of sub-projects/sub-modules? Regards, Guangrong
