Jack,
Hi, the 1.0.0 branch of the demo is relatively stable so you can bring up and
down your stack during working hours (it takes between 15 and 60 min for DCAE
to come up) – it will run about $3/hour and your bill should be around $40/day.
I was able to fine tune some of the machines in the yaml -but Rackspace is not
as granular and inexpensive(reserved/spot instances) as AWS – so the price was
around $1.50/hour. Daniel is right that we should be overly enthusiastic
devops engineers and concentrating fully on vanilla openstack and comparing
results as we all have with our private labs – thanks to the rest of the
community like Joseph in particular – who have worked out a lot of the issues.

Daniel,

We’ll chew on this. A small lab fits the bill for us.

Thank you,

To keep this relevant to all here is some documentation on how to do such a
thing:

Here is a guide on a very small onap lab:

If you want a bit bigger, there is how much of things you will need:

Here are the steps:

If it works well consider putting it here so others can see what combos work

Sorry I didn’t see you were AT&T. Spondon Dey may be able to help you with a
private lab.

Daniel,

Ha! Your second alternative sounds like a better bet these days.

Bug your vp for an expense fund 😊 or use vanilla openstack in a lab you control

Rackspace wasnt free for us when we were using it for OpenECOMP. I’m pretty
sure we provided guidance on the wiki that a credit card was required (and in
fact that is how folks did it at the tutorial session @ ONS 2017).

Hello,

I want to set up ONAP and run the two demos.

I attempted to create a Rackspace Cloud account, which was advertised to be
free. However, Rackspace is requesting a credit card number and, apparently,
the first 30 days are free but afterward there are charges.

Is there an alternative which would allow free use of the Rackspace cloud for
more than 30 days?

Thank you for your help!

Jack Carpenter
