Multi-Cloud and VF-C are the early adapter of ISTIO. We have done some
basic integration and testing, including the metrics collection, distributed
tracing and which are detailed here

Hi Huabing and Kiran,
I see some reports from VF-C and Multi-Cloud that ISTIO is being used for
Mutual TLS communication among the containers.
I have presentation in F2F about enhancements to ISTIO to mitigate some of the
challenges in adopting ISTIO, mainly on
- Reducing the footprint of ISTIO based deployment
- Securing CA keys and Envoy certificate keys
- Starting the Mutual TLS directly from the applications (if they choose
to) to reduce the latency concerns.

Now that I see reports from VF-C and Multi-Cloud team , looks like MSB project
went beyond the POC work. That is good news.
Steve is asking for the status of ISTIO in R3. Please provide the status
update.

- Is DMAPP problem fixed?
- I understand that internal communication among VF-C containers and
Multi-Cloud containers is taken care by ISTIO, but how do containers that
communicate with A&AI, OOF, SDC, SO are taken care as they don’t support ISTIO
side cars yet. Did you go with ISTIO-ingress with rest of ONAP? Or did you do
something else?
