Hi everyone, I wanted to gauge the impact to the use case teams aai supports if we were to deprecate a few microservices some members of the community deem not necessary.
Mainly we have plans to deliver a new lower footprint user interface for AAI that provides intuitive features, which would mean deprecating the use of the current UI and its supporting microservices (data-router, search-data-service). We plan on reusing the sparky framework with only new features added, current functionality is deprecated. The UI will only interact with the resources and traversal microservices, that interact with the graph, (no longer managing a separate elastic copy of the data). The current state of the UI is hard to manage since its original contributors have left ONAP and it has a large microservice footprint (with many things to manage and many points of failure). Currently ONAP diverges vastly from the internal production version of the UI AT&T supports. We would like to start aligning the ONAP UI codebase with our production version of the UI, which will be much easier to maintain and will provide a much more robust feature set for the onap community. We plan to deliver this in the H release. The UI has had issues in the past few releases since the original contributor withdrawal, we will work on getting it up and running for the G release, but it may be a challenge. I will open a risk on that set of microservices. Do you rely on search-data-service, data-router, or the sparky UI? If so why? What would be the impact if we removed support for the current UI features?
