Hi, This is notify that DCAE-MOD has been identified for retirement with London release. The team reviewed internally and also with ONAPARC team and reached a consensus with following plan
Kohn : No enhancement will be made for MOD components, only critical/security bug-fixes will be addressed. MOD components charts will be available under OOM as optional deployment choice to support usecase requiring microservice onboarding and helm charts generation and distribution. London: MOD component repo's will be locked and corresponding charts under OOM repo will be removed. Background: DCAE MOD was introduced in Frankfurt (R6) release to address these requirements 1. Simplified and streamlined onboarding & design for DCAE microservice, and distribution of the deployment artifact (blueprints) to DCAE-Core Platform (Cloudify) 2. Provide Common Catalog for reusable DCAE microservices for Designer to leverage 3. Enable automated onboarding for ML microservices from Acumos Platform. With DCAE platform transformation feature completion in Jakarta, requirement #1 and #2 are less critical as the onboarding & deployment can be easily managed through Helm-Charts and catalog supported through Chartmuseum (or any other registry); REQ-994<https://jira.onap.org/browse/REQ-994> addresses the design needs through POLICY/CLAMP. And with Acumos project being archived by Linux Foundation (EOY 2021), requirement #3 is no longer applicable. MOD deprecation will also address the open SECCOM exception for running on java8 (due to upstream dependency with Apache/NiFi project) and enables further simplification of DCAE architecture.
