Greetings,
Many of you may know that I had (early) retired from AT&T as of December 31,
2019. It was my understanding that I had already been replaced as PTL for AAF
as of my retirement, as various efforts to update the Committers and
“INFO.yaml” files have already occurred. However, Kenny let me know that the
actual switch of AAF PTL had not formally happened, and requires a resignation
letter.

It has long been a desire for me professionally to contribute to Open Source,
since I realize the incredible value I have received over the years from
other’s Open Source efforts. ONAP and Linux Foundation has provided me with
this opportunity, as well as being able to be part of the most international
team I’ve ever experienced, even while being part of AT&T with its global
presence. Therefore, I have wanted to figure out, among all the other
life-changes involved in retirement, how to continue to contribute to ONAP, but
without quite the intensity that is expected when one is paid to do the work by
ONAP’s company sponsors.

With that goal, I have been, over the last few months, trying to balance out
my other interests, such as Music (I play the cello, compose and other) and
other outside interest curtailed by my AT&T and ONAP work. Yet even while
making strides towards that balance, my original retirement plan was predicated
on reasonable global economic activity, which has been rocked by the whole
COVID-19 impact.

I am pleased to say that I have been able to find a place to contribute to
ONAP with the core AAF Product. Given recent help I have given, I think this
part of my participation model has been a success for myself and ONAP.

Unfortunately, my life balance as a retiree is not compatible with the large
amount of the extra admin work, extra meetings, and non-core projects required
of AAF PTL.

THE ASK:
I am therefore asking to step down as PTL of AAF, while, as noted above, I
still request to retain committer rights to AAF Core.

I had, in January, per request, helped update the Committer and Member lists,
and asked the current AAF Team if anyone would want to take over, and did not
receive any nominations.

I believe it up to the TSC, therefore, to continue the effort to find a PTL
for that position.

ADDITIONAL NOTE:
In pursuit of a PTL, I would like the TSC to know that my life as a fully
retired person is regrettably short lived, and I am starting the process of
resume updating. If any of the Companies associated with ONAP needs someone
with the kind of ONAP experience I have gained over the last couple years,
especially related to security, and would be interested in my services, I am
available, and if that company wished, could take up the PTL mantel again.

CONCLUSION:
I thank you all for your professional, yet companionable working
relationships we have built over the last few years. I wish you all the best,
and hope to continue some level of contribution even while stepping down from
PTL of AAF.
