Hi I had a meeting with Intel team regarding the upgrade of the community lab (aka Intel/Windriver lab). Hardware and security upgrades are needed. In fact some of the servers are very old (> 5years - which explains some performance issues we already reported) and security waivers have been regularly granted but will be hard to be renewed in the future. The current security waiver is expiring end of March. Intel needs then some time to upgrade the hardware and apply new security rules on their DC. The downtime estimation is (worst scenario) 1 month with some flexibility for the starting date.
It is purely dealing with the Hardware part and partly decorelated from the discussion we had with Stephen for the software upgrade. 2 categories of contributors will be affected - use case using the SB-00 lab. Since frankfurt we set up a staging lab on azure to offer an alternative but some use cases (e.g. MDONS) setup connectivities between the Intel community lab and their own lab (Fujitsu controller for MDONS project), such connectivites have not been created on azure. - projects: several projects are still using actively the lab for their internal development. therefore 1 month of downtime is challenging for them. The staging can be used but it is shared, they may create aside namespaces for the dev but on Azure the more we use, the more we pay...
