My understanding is that DM&E train lines end at the barge terminal.
DM&E has said they won't take coal through the city and they are right-
they will transfer it onto the Canadian Pacific (CP) line! DM&E's plan is to
put 5% of their coal onto barges and ship the rest of it south, through
town, on the CP line. The issue of overpasses in Winona doesn't really
have to do with DM&E but with the other rail lines.
I'm very concerned about the increase in rail traffic in Winona. We
chose to buy a house and live in town because we like to walk to work and to
our children's school. The train noise is already high and any increase
would significantly affect the quality of life in Winona.
