[Winona Online Democracy]

I was at a meeting in St. Paul today and people asked me about the
lettuce in the lake. They told me it was in USA Today. I checked and
found this on the Net--

[ Wednesday, October 25
Winona - State officials destroyed more than 250 tropical water
lettuce plants in Lake Winona in southeastern Minnesota. The plant,
which many experts didn't believe could survive a Minnesota winter, is
popular with people who have water gardens or aquariums. It's illegal
to introduce non-native plants to any lakes or rivers in Minnesota. ]

I haven't heard or seen anything about this locally. Maybe they're
dredging up more than just silt.
