[Winona Online Democracy]
I'm actually feeling a bit grumbly about our political process right now...
People are saying how great it is and every vote really does count- I
disagree. Right now it looks as though Gore received 150,000 or so (I can't
remember the exact number) more votes than Bush, and yet because of the
electoral college, will lose the election. In my opinion there's at least
150,000 votes that DON'T count! I don't understand how someone who wins
under these circumstances can hold their head up and say "I won"! I know
it's constitutional, I know it's the way it's always been, and I know at one
time there was good reason for it. But I think it's very, very, wrong.
