I certainly don't have total and instant recall but
I know there are a number of mandates that public schools are required to do
that are UNDER funded. The largest of these is Special Ed. The
mandates and latitudes are reaching cost prohibitiveness.
One could look at Charter School legislation
and note the areas that are indicated as not being mandates for a Charter School
that are required for public schools.
Our bus company's could probably list a number of
things required of bus equipment specifications etc that are mandated and are
either district expense or bus company expense and thus become part of the
charges they are required to pass on in their bid process.
The person's to ask for specifics would be our
finance people at the school district. Because of the budget process, they have
to build into the budget money to cover the difference between the program and
the funding. Of course our Supt and our Principals may have a feel for
these things too because of needing to administer the budget.
Hope this helps for suggestions as to whom to talk
to.
