[Winona Online Democracy]
Now that the elections for local offices are over we received this week
the notice on the Proposed Property Tax for 2001 and I wondering if I'm the
only lucky one to see that the City of Winona portion is up in real dollars
29.3 percent . The County portion is up 10.2 percents and thanks to the
legislature the schools are up by only 5.2 %. My overall proposed increase
is 12.7%. The last CPI index projection I received for 2001 was about 3 %
which is also the only real increase most non government employers,
employees and those on fixed incomes are forecasting to receive for the
coming year.
The first Budget Hearing on the proposal is for the City's portion is at
7:30 PM in the City Council Chamber
If your happy with the increase stay home-----
If your unhappy show up and raise hell ----
If your unhappy and can't make the hearings ----- mail a tea bag
