I just completed a review of all the online letters
accumulated while I was in Holland the past two weeks. Good discussions on
a number of topics. We can be proud of our AMerican's abroad and how they
were interested, discussing, following the election process these last
weeks. They are concerned as we all are. The topic was followed very
closely on CNN and The British News channels.
Thought I would throw my two cents in and remind
people to follow the agenda posted for City Council meetings and CALL your
area representative if you don't want to have them pass the ordinance as it
stands and which will, if passed, most likely end the City of Winona
up in a court battle we won't win. You can be sure that the STOP people
are organized to make the calls to the City Council Members and will
be calling for the passage of the ordinance with the two year time
period in it.
I am proud of Winona that we didn't have spoiled
ballots that were not counted but a greater number of communities did. I
was pleased to hear people urging further work here and around the state to
improve our process. I hope our Representatives to Washington will be
carrying forth a call for an improvement in the federal laws to improve the
process in all states even if it does mean a federal law with basic standards
set for all to follow. I have an email address for Mr. Gutknecht but don't
have one for Mr. Wellstone or Mr. Dayton. Does anyone out there have
them or know where I could get them??
