[Winona Online Democracy]

Joliene...first off, Happy New Year to you and all list members...
I have been lurking more than I have posted as of late, but I have
enjoyed the back-and-forth on teen employment and presidential
politics and the other topics that have been raised...keep up the
good work!

As for the courthouse, I am just relieved that commissioners have
moved off the dime...public support for courthouse restoration was
very strong...we can get to work without getting ahead of ourselves...

There is asbestos abatement to be done, water damaged wallboard needs
to be ripped out...let's finally complete the clean-up that building
needs before any restoration can begin...I don't see why we couldn't
have started that back in september. Let's get it done as soon as
possible. It would be a fine time to put in a tunnel to the LEC, too,
if that is needed.

We as a county have collectively spun our wheels since Labor Day.
A single public hearing was held to gather public opinion and it
was over-whelmingly in favor of restoring the courthouse to government
use...a new building might be more efficient and save money...but a
majority of the county board conceded that public opinion counts, too.

We now know what we are going to do...let's get down to the business
of figuring out how we do it.

Best wishes to everyone!

Bob Sebo
