[Winona Online Democracy]
Many people are talking about the impact that train traffic and train
numbers are going to have on the quality of life in Winona. People may
want to read of another approaching disaster . . . one that will impact
Winona much more than the addition of trains will do.
The Rochester Post Bulletin published an important article last weekend
(2-10-01). The impact of last year's school budget cuts on Winona Area
Public Schools was investigated, photographed, and reported on. I have to
say that it was the most investigative, in-depth article pertaining to
Winona's current public education situation than any news article I have
read. I would encourage everyone to read it. I believe that a strong
educational system is the backbone of every nation, city, community. I was
pleased to learn that the Rochester Post Bulletin sees public school
funding as a large enough concern/crisis to make it news worthy.
