[Winona Online Democracy]

I can't speak for your Girl Scout leader/leaders; but when I was a leader
(in Calif.) my girls worked very hard to get badges and awards. I always
made sure that at every meeting they learned something. As for cookie
sales, my girls also sold them a troop and never competed against each
other; I felt that was more fair than who sold the most. Now that I am in
MN, I have a daughter that is in Scouts and she doesn't earn any badges
either and I haven't seen anything being taught in the Scouts either.
As for gays in Girl Scouts; Girl Scouts allows all people to be part of
Scouts; even men and their sons go to the resident camps. I have known a
few gay people in Girl Scouts and a few girls that were lesbians in Scouts.
Girl Scouts doesn't discriminate against anyone.
I hope that this helps you with your questions.
Pam
