Report from  Monthly Steering Committee Meeting for OnlineDemocracy




4-5p.m.   Tues April 17th    Wenonah Room  City Hall



-Observations/Suggestions  on functioning of Online Democracy----  in the
next couple weeks an online survey will be coming to get your sense of
satisfaction and suggestions for improvement.


-Debriefing on the  Live Election Event
   Given the 22% spoil rate in primaries locally, some individuals are
talking more about actions for voter education.
   Duane Peterson will be presenting the Supreme Court FL decision at
Historical Society on 25th over lunch hour.
   It was suggested to perhaps have "a showing" of the videos from the live
events on election reform.

Schenkat for access to video tape)



-Efforts at securing grant funding and other outreach----Steve and Randy
are completing details on proposal(s) that can circulated to expand some of
the work of onlinedemocracy.  Onlinedemocracy from Winona was featured in
the newest issue(Jan -Feb 2001) of Minnesota Cities in their theme issue-
"Cities and the New World of E-Government"




-Discussion of format and value of doing participant face to face meetings
-more details will be forthcoming - but reserve after work  4:30-6 p.m. for
our first ever Face to Face (F2F) on. Tuesday May 15th in Accoustic Caf�'s
new gathering room.



-Status of online event(assessment/Alfie Kohn)
One tangible results is the newly formed Education Roundtable- area public
and non public schools will be developing a guide for parents and community
on what conclusions can be drawn from state testing data.
It was decided to hold off on any more face to face meetings on the
assessment/ accountability issue until the discussion start locally on on
Choice Schools.




P.S.  Also, you might wish to become involved in the Youth Leadership for
Vital Communities, a Blandin sponsored project.  Winona has been selected
as one of 4 sites statewide and 10   adult volunteers are needed for this
