[Winona Online Democracy]

I would disagree with Glen Schumann on this one.

I think the topics of civil rights, the appropriate powers of government
and corporations, and other democractic topics are "Winona topics".

If we are a democracy, then everyone should have a say in them. Yes, snow
removal and dog leashes are important but so are our freedoms.

Does anyone not think these civil liberties questions won't affect people
here in Winona.

Glen's other questions are good ones but I worry that we small people in
back water Winona have no real power or right to speak up on national or
global issues. (For the record, I do not consider Winona to be backwater
or back wooks or back anything.)

I think Glen Chapman and Duane Peterson have hit upon something incredibly
important.

I even hope our local newspaper, radio stations, and other media take this
question up.

Thank you bringing it up Glen.

Our rights won't be taken away from us all in one fell swoop by some masked
villian, they will be slowly eroded over time, inch by inch. Isn't there a
good qoute about that somewhere?

It's our responsibility and duty to guard our freedoms.

Dwayne Voegeli
