[Winona Online Democracy]
A message provides a link taking me to a story that begins: "President George W. Bush cites the 1942 military tribunal convened to prosecute eight Nazis plotting attacks on U.S. soil to show how he wants to prosecute present-day terrorists." A terribly written sentence, but innocent sounding enough. Warned by the sender that the story comes from a website hosted by Jeff Rense, I visit the home page. There I am greeted with a drawing of a UFO hovering over Stonehenge. And that's all I need to toss the article directly and immediately into the waste bin. A web page that provides information on UFOs, secret chemtrails from airplanes, bigfoot sightings and other paranormal pseudo science cannot (and would not if we weren't so afraid to single them out as deceptive frauds) call itself a source of useful information. After a brief perusal of the Rense web site, I recognize a leading source of misinformation, should I ever find a need for it.
