[Winona Online Democracy]

Hello Kelly,
I am slow to respond to your posting because I have been out of town.
However, I want to now thank you for being an involved Winona citizen . . .
and thank you for casting an informed vote!

I totally agree with you. College students are a huge (and valuable) part
of Winona. They certainly have a right (and even an obligation) to vote.

The outcome of this referendum does not merely affect the local property
owner . . . the ripples from this referendum will affect many, many people
in and beyond Winona, today and into the future. The referendum was more
about values, equitable educational opportunities, and quality of life in a
democractic society than it was about my property taxes.

So! A special thank you to all college students who performed an important
civic duty for our community. Your vote certainly was important.
