*Data Analyst with Cognos/SSRS*
Location: Fremont, CA (Need face to face after telephonic)
Duration: 6 months+
*The IT team is ramping up and are implementing BI solutions. They have
around 3000 reports in Cognos and want an author or repot writer who can
understand and facilitate to convert these reports into Report Net. *
The Data Analyst will be responsible for gathering and translating business
requirements into queries, models and tools to allow for insightful data
analysis and forecasting back to the business. The Data Analyst works with
business users to develop and interpret reports in the proper context,
create complex data queries, reconcile data from sources with varying
degrees of accuracy and granularity, develop ad-hoc queries to augment/pilot
new reports, perform data cleansing and auditing to identify idiosyncrasies
and compensate for deficiencies, create data extract transformation and load
processes. Data Analyst uses deployed business intelligence capabilities to
help business users analyze data and create customized reports and
analytics.
· Develop a strong working relationship with the appropriate business users
to understand the key business drivers and priorities
· Lead and facilitate sessions with cross-functional teams to reach
consensus on data definitions.
Develop data models to cleanse, interpret and reconcile information from
various sources
· Develop data models to distill actionable information by excluding noise
in the data.
· Develop detailed functional specifications and requirements for new
reports.
· Audit and measure data quality and take actions to reconcile.
*· Create ad-hoc queries to augment existing reports using SQL and other
tools e.g. Excel*
· Perform ad-hoc data cleansing, match, merge & debug operations.
· Create and maintain documentation
· *Provide analytical support and create reports for the Cognos BI / MS SSRS
user community*
· Educate user community on data mining techniques, tools, and best
practices
*· Ensure quality delivery of BI reports and operational enhancements
· Perform QA on new reports against underlying data for accuracy.*
· Perform end user training on reports and reporting environment
· Maintains data integrity and standards
· Use audit techniques to obtain, analyze and appraise data, transactions,
and records as a basis for providing an objective opinion on the performance
of the business and the effectiveness of key management activities
· Design and execute tasks to cleanse data to support various initiatives
