Systems Engineer-Application Packaging
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Est. Start Date: 3/23/11

An experienced application packager / automation developer to create and
manage MSI based automated application installers. In addition to packaging
skills, we are seeking individuals with the skills and knowledge to develop
reusable tools and utilities to automate common / reoccurring tasks and
processes related to the deployment of software throughout the enterprise
running Microsoft operating systems with many third party applications.
*Essential Functions:*
· Ability to troubleshoot automated software installation
and system integration issues and provide solutions.
· Create and maintain automated MSI based software
installations for the enterprise.
· Proactively assess new technologies to meet escalating
business demands by project and environment.
· Lead efforts to document technical requirements,
architecture, design, development of packaging / automation process and
systems.
· Work with OS provisioning engineers to design, engineer,
deliver, and support automated system provisioning capability.
· Work with QA team and application owners to ensure
quality product delivery.
· Develop tools/utilities to aid automation of software
configuration and delivery across the enterprise.
· Lead technical aspects of end-to-end system design and
management of software deployment infrastructure for the enterprise
· Provide technical leadership role while contributing to
successful project delivery
*Skills:*
· At least four years experience packaging software using *MSI
technology.*
· Retail industry knowledge and/or experience a strong plus
· Software development background
· In-depth understanding of Microsoft operating systems and
installer technologies.
· Solid communications skills necessary for interaction at
all levels of the company
· Comprehensive understanding of distributed
computing/network/LAN architecture. In-depth understanding of issues related
to enterprise software distribution and system configuration management.
· Experience with system administration, monitoring and
support procedures
· Demonstrated ability to evaluate and recommend new
technologies
· Demonstrated ability to implement new systems
· Advanced ability to engage in many projects
simultaneously; ability to follow-through and ensure problems are resolved.
· Proven interpersonal skills, superior organizational
skills, and the ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment
· Demonstrated technical leadership in the architecture and
design of desktop configurations of Microsoft Windows in environment of
8,000+ user accounts
· In-depth knowledge of endpoint management methodologies;
knowledge of PC configuration and setup, drivers, lockdown security and
profiles.
· Must be experienced with software distribution and
management on an enterprise level. Packaging experience using MSI technology
is required using enterprise tools such as Package Studio.
· Experience with software delivery and management tools
such as Marimba / 'BMC Configuration and Automation for Clients'. Must fully
understand the management of application shared components.
· Possesses solid understanding of industry software
licensing standards and regulations.

· *4 years experience with Wise Package Studio and MSI
technology*
· Retail industry background is a plus
· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with
internal IT resources, business customers, and vendor partners in a fast
paced, demanding environment
