*Position:* Teradata DBA *Location:* Cleveland, Ohio *Duration:* 6 months plus *Description:* Our client is looking to add three (3) Senior Teradata DBAs. The ideal candidate will possess an expert understanding of the Teradata database and will have demonstrated experience working in all phases of Teradata data warehouse development and implementation. General Responsibilities include overall administration and management of the Teradata database, Teradata physical database design, Work-Load-Management/Priority Scheduling, data & user security, performance tuning, enforcement of standards, data replication, documentation, capacity planning & trending analysis, and production support. *Responsibilities:* - Work with both technical and business stakeholders to understand the database requirements for new projects/initiatives. - Assist with and provide consulting on logical and physical database design. - Perform logical and physical database design and mapping. - Manage and monitor Teradata system performance, including workload management, query performance and tuning, physical node behavior, and amp distribution. - Work with development teams to develop processes to ensure data quality. - Identify knowledge gaps and provide technical guidance/mentoring. - Provide advanced technical troubleshooting for applications and database systems with emphasis on root cause analysis - Write and maintain documentation describing changes and modifications to all systems and databases - Research solutions to various business and technical problems, evaluate alternatives and be able to present recommendations and justifications to management. - Participation in a rotating on-call schedule. - Insure backup and recovery processes are implemented and work consistently - Responsible for Disaster Recovery design and testing. *Skills Needed:* - Expert in the Administration of the Teradata database (Teradata v13.10 or greater) - Expert in Teradata Physical Database Design and Performance Optimization including use of Partitioned Primary Indexes and Aggregate Join Indexes - Expert in Teradata Performance and Capacity Planning methodologies and toolsets. - Advanced working knowledge of Teradata tools (BTEQ, TPT, Workload Management, Viewpoint, BAR, ABU, tc) - Advanced working knowledge of Teradata SQL, Stored Procedure and Query Optimization including single AMP optimizations. - Solid understanding of large-scale Data Warehouse design including when to use normalized vs. dimensional data modeling approaches. - Has excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills. - Has the ability to acquire new skills quickly, and thrive in a collaborative team environment. - Ability to thrive in a fast-paced changing environment. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "only.SAP" group.
