Please reply at [email protected] for quick response TITLE: Release Manager STATUS: Open JOB CODE: 15766 LOCATION: Lafayette, LA, United States # of Openings: 1 Contract Requisition Details: • Code deployment to production • Subversion Administrative Maintenance (creating the production tag, merging and tagging of code, creating new branches or deleting an existing branch) and access control • Maestro job Owner (to turn on/off Maestro job) • Set up Jenkins (build automation tool) and assist in rolling out build automation strategy . *DESCRIPTION::* Description: Seasoned technology professional providing advanced expertise in installing, configuring and administering key applications that provide configuration, release management and operational controls, and for ensuring that configuration, build and release management systems and controls are in place and maintained. Technical Expertise : · Demonstrates broad technical knowledge of multiple technologies, with an in-depth knowledge of one technology including its impact on other technologies. · Possesses thorough understanding of current and future technology to quickly grasp new platforms, languages, and tools within their area of expertise. Ie DevOps · Maintains an industry awareness of new developments in their area of expertise. Learns and applies new and emerging concepts very quickly such as - Change, Release Deployment, ITIL and Service Management concepts · Applies technical skills independently and acts as a technical expert in one or more areas, providing technical issue resolution and technical coaching to other staff. · Experience with SCM concepts – code lines, branching, merging, integration and versioning with tools such as Subversion, Microsoft TFS, Clearquest and any other version control tools. · Demonstrates understanding of Release workflow models and continuous integration systems like Jenkins, Hudson · Ability to collaborate with all areas of IT to construct sustainable and effective solutions Role Responsibilities : · May propose new technical standards and develop new migration plans to the future technology infrastructure. · Serves as a technical resource for multiple components of release management, able to resolve most problems/issues in their area(s) of expertise. · Perform configuration management for all different applications running on all environments and manage their production release process that ensures reliability and availability of the platforms · Develops and administers systems used to manage the code release phases of the application lifecycle · Develops sound version control practices including branching and merging based on the current version control tools · Installs software for and implements repositories, deployment automation and release management · Designs processes and manages repository structures · Automates the application build processes and coordinates releases of builds · Performs as subject matter expert for these systems to other areas of IT · Develops technical standards, identifies, evaluates, implements and supports new products; provides resolution for production and quality control system problems · Supports applications on the following platforms: Windows, UNIX, Linux, Amazon AWS using the following tools: Subversion and Microsoft TFS Version Control and for Scheduling tool: Tivoli Workload Scheduler (TWS) · Installation, on-going maintenance, upgrades, training and documentation · System and maintenance management of source repositories for Subversion as well as identifying bug fixes and modifications for other Configuration and Release management systems · Maintenance of configuration items relating to applications · Ensures that Configuration, Build & Release documentation is available and includes latest version · Identifies, diagnoses, reports and provides resolutions or recommends resolutions to resolve technical problems with production control software · Required to be available to work on an on-call basis, weekends and off-hours · Promotes teamwork and fosters cooperation to meet SLA’s and other departmental goals · Consults with other systems groups about change and configuration management, testing, code deployments/releases, job scheduling and delivery distribution on multiple platforms · Actively applies and promotes security and change management policies by identifying and addressing situations that are not in compliance Business Knowledge : · Understands the business impact of different solutions, and can assess the tradeoffs between business needs, technology requirements and costs. · Understands the organization’s products and services, and basic business processes. · Understands business trends and the direction technology must take to support the business. · Identifies opportunities to advance company’s strategy through new and emerging technologies and recommends to management. Typical Challenges Addressed : · Conducts complete diagnostics of most technical problems, factoring in an understanding of the technical architecture. · Identifies changes required to specifications / architectural blueprints for technical systems within their areas of expertise. · Identifies the necessary actions required to improve performance in their area(s) of technology and leads the improvement initiatives. · Anticipates implementation obstacles and risks. Identifies and recommends solutions. · Contributes to the analysis of cross-technology and cross platform issues. · Begins to contribute to strategic technology planning for MTS, supplying financial analyses (e.g. TCO, ROI) to support technology investments. · When making a recommendation for a technology investment, does a thorough analysis of the nature of the vendor and the potential value of the relationship to Viacom. Communication/ Contacts : · Communicates with clients directly to understand and explain business and technical issues respond to user problems, explain new technologies, and present deliverables. · Excellent verbal & written communication and organizational skills · Writing, architecting and reviewing design documents · Provides documentation on processes and trains MTS staff as required · Provides documented process and escalation support to offshore group · Forms productive networks with MTS colleagues, clients, the vendor community and peers in the industry. Project Role : · Possesses the ability to lead small to moderate sized projects, or works under more senior staff on a larger project. · Contributes to implementation efforts, e.g. contributes to the analysis of vendor proposals, contributes to the project plan, coordinates vendors, builds and conducts tests, executes against the implementation plan, and tracks project progress. Decision Making : · Functions independently with limited work direction. Work is reviewed periodically and on an exception basis. · Commits to deliverables for projects and work in their area of expertise.
