Keywords: Linux, Apache, Solaris, Proxy, Scripting, SSO, Bastions, Jump Hosts, Incident Response, Operations, On-Call, Senior Systems Administrator, Automation The main point where we are falling down is that I was not clear enough on the importance of being strong on the command line (unix). We made it a requirement to be able to script and to have unix experience but no one we talked to could complete a simple task on the command line (like read a file and for each entry do something, or how do you apply an update/install from the commandline, or transfer a file to/from a host using the command line) . Most of our work (~80%) is command line based. The way we are doing this for the in person interviews is by literally handing someone a laptop and giving them 30 minutes to complete a simple task. Again, no one is able to do it. Since eBay is committed to training anyway, eagerness/willingness to learn is more important than decades of experience. *Thanks and Regards,* *Rahul* *Email: [email protected] <[email protected]>* *Find your passion then it’s no longer work!!!* -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "only.SAP" group.
