Hmmm there are several ways tie-ins could occur since Matthew is also an archeologist. His own Family ties however only appeared in the last couple of years. Before that time.. he was an unknown Sangiovanni and mostly in hiding from them. He has had to be relearning his Catti since the great wasting illness hit the Venue. However, he has been a Crone since chronicle beginning so that is a possibility.. in that role you may have encountered him as Lycos, Hierophant of Eugene since *thinks* about two years after Chronicle began.
