It should use UDP. But asterisk is not a gatekeeper, i.e., asterisk behaves as just another H323 endpoint and does not support gatekeeper behavior. If you need a gatekeeper, you will have to use gnugk.
Ok, making good progress. I had Proxy=0 in the gnugk config file, and the ooh323c endpoints were registering properly, but they tried to send RTP to the gateway instead of directly to themselves. I changed the gnugk config to Proxy=1, and now it proxies the rtp traffic to/from the endpoints and the call goes through properly! Now, I am curious how the phone makes the decision of whether to send RTP directly to the peer phone or through the gateway/proxy. Is this something it should be able to discover from the gnugk program, or is it something I need to manually configure in the ooh323 stack?
