+1 apache-extras seems to be our straw. ;-)
While it means that we won't have history in svn, it does mean that we'll have full history available to us. And in its natural Hg state.
OK, if this is our way (and AFAIU the only that is possible from point of view of technical, time and effort) to keep all SVN history data then we should go this.
