So, the very most interested people are developers. These people do not download a source tarball but the most recent revision or the respective release tag; so a "svn co ..." is their favorite to get it.
IMHO we do not need to release anything as source. A pointer on a webpage how to get it from SVN is sufficient. But it could be also integrated into SVN to get it AL2 compatible.
