The Spanish dictionary that comes with OOo is not only outdated: it do not include the thesaurus nor the hyphenation dictionaries that are available on OpenThesaurus-es site(1). (They are packaged as extensions) And most important for this discussion, all those dictionaries (spell check, hyphenation and thesaurus) are LGPL.
