It seems, reading messages on the Italian mailing list and forum, that

(which apparently would be fixed by including a newer version of the
Microsoft VC redistributable) is effectively blocking the installation
of OpenOffice in some circumstances (due to the bug, the related part of
the installer tries to write in C:\ even when it is forbidden by policy).
Can someone who knows more check whether the redistributable upgrade is
low-risk and can be included in 3.4.1? Those users are currently unable
to install OpenOffice at all, if reports are correct.
