Good idea. But this discussion belongs on ooo-dev. There is no need
for it to be private.

As I mentioned back at the start of April, I think that we could do with
something that outlines the type of place we are trying to create in this
community. I would see this as something that would be brought to the
attention of all participants from the onset of their involvement, probably
as part of the 'signing on' process.

As I said at the time, I would prefer to see something that describes the
'type' of place this is, rather than a formally listed set of rules.

My opening gambit (as a kernel that could be expanded on) was:

"Discussion is the cornerstone of a project like this and the sharing of
viewpoints is crucial, as is understanding and accepting that many views
will differ from your own. By all means debate rigorously and defend your
view point stoutly, but avoid abrasive dialogue and personal attacks. Give
leeway to people who do not have English as a first language. Pause before
taking insult, and pause before responding. There is a difference between
robust discussion and steamrollering. Civility is paramount. Manners cost
nothing; we are all capable of self-moderation, and of being aware of our
conduct."

To my mind it can only be a good thing to have clarity regarding the way
people are expected to behave here.
