Joe <[email protected]> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |[email protected] --- Comment #1 from Joe <[email protected]> 2012-02-11 16:11:36 UTC --- Writer Version: DEV300m106 (Build:9582) I evaluated this bug on Windows 7 in Writer DEV300m106 (Build:9582). This is a newer version than where this bug was initially reported. I created two documents in MS Word 2002 SP3, and three documents in MS Word 2010 (14.0.6106.5005) to use for evaluating this bug. In this evaluation, the footnotes import into Writer with a formatting issue. MS Word 2002 SP3 Documents When Writer opens FootnoteAtPageBottomTest.doc, the footnotes are placed at the bottom of the page. This is expected. When Writer opens FootnoteBelowTextText.doc, the footnotes are placed at the bottom of the page. In MS Word 2002 SP3, these footnotes are placed below the text by selecting this as the location in the Footnotes and Endnotes dialog. MS Word 2010 Documents When Writer opens FootnotesAtBottomOfPage.docx, the footnotes are placed at the bottom of the page. The first footnote appears vertically aligned at the top; the second footnote appears vertically aligned at the center. When Writer opens FootnotesAfterText.docx, the footnotes are placed at the top of the succeeding page. Note that the footnotes were created in MS Word 2010 as endnotes and placed at the end of the section text. The format of both footnotes in Writer is the same as described for FootnotesAtBottomOfPage.docx. When Writer opens FootnotesAtBothPlaces.docx, the placement is consistent with the previous descriptions. The first footnote appears at the bottom of the page, and the second footnote (created as an endnote in MS Word) appears at the top of the succeeding page. Using Writer I experimented with footnotes and endnotes in Writer. I added two footnotes and they appeared at the bottom of the page without vertical alignment issues. I added an endnote and it was added to the succeeding page. If the definition of an endnote in Writer is to place endnotes at the end of the document, then the import of FootnotesAfterText.docx may not interpret how Word describes the location of endnotes in its documents. User Impact The primary user impact is the endnote. If an author of a MS Word document intends to place endnotes in a section of text and Writer imports those endnotes to the end of the document, some context or reference in the document is lost or confusing for the Writer user. -- Configure bugmail: https://issues.apache.org/ooo/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
