I opened Writer, selected Save As from the File menu, and attempted to create a folder on a local drive and on a desktop drive exposed through a wireless network. I also followed a configuration suggestion and save location suggestion another user placed on the bug. In all these tests, the bug was not reproduced. OOO330m20 Build:9567 I evaluated the ability of Writer to create new folders from the Save As dialog to both a local drive and a drive on a networked machine. My document for these tests had little or no content. I also evaluated the advice of Mr Bircher and changed the Writer setting for Open and Save dialogs as well as answer his question on location. DEV300m106 Build:9582 I performed the same tests as above on this version of Writer. The results were the same. Test Steps In Writer: 1. Select Save As from the File menu 2. Create a folder 3. Save the file To change the Open/Save Dialogs option: Change the Open/Save Dialogs option at a. Select Options... from the Tools menu b. Expand the OpenOffice.org item c. Select General d. Depending on the test set up, check or uncheck the Use OpenOffice.org dialogs check box Test Results For every test, a new folder was successfully created and the file saved. The test execution details are below. Test 1 Location: Local Drive Open/Save Dialog: Windows Dialog Comments: Folder creation and save successful Test 2 Location: Local Drive Open/Save Dialog: OpenOffice Dialog Comments: Folder creation and save successful Test 3 Location: Local Drive Open/Save Dialog: OpenOffice Dialog Comments: New folder created in Explorer, navigated to new folder, folder creation and save successful Test 4 Location: Local Drive Open/Save Dialog: Windows Dialog Comments: New folder created in Explorer, navigated to new folder, folder creation and save successful Test 5 Location: Network Drive Open/Save Dialog: Windows Dialog Comments: Folder creation and save successful Test 6 Location: Network Drive Open/Save Dialog: OpenOffice Dialog Comments: Folder creation and save successful User Impact This is an important feature.
