Bug #: 118981
Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: actual hyphenation is not consistent with choices
picked/available in the paragraph, text flow tab
Classification: Application
Product: Word processor
Version: version58
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Windows XP
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: P3
Component: configuration
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
When I right click on a given paragraph and choose "Paragraph", under the "Text
Flow" tab, The actual hyphenation is not consistent with the choices made e.g.
when I choose to have "2" Characters at line end, "3" Characters at line begin,
and "1" for the Maximum number of consecutive hyphens (lines in a row) allowed,
I do not always get acceptable results. I have repeatedly gotten hyphens that
are not located at the acceptable syllables or even at a syllable, had more
than one line with hyphens in a row (remember my choice was to not allow more
than 1 line in a row of hyphens), and if I try to put the hyphen at the correct
location-at a syllable, I will get a "not a correctly spelled word" red,
squiggly underline. Here is a direct example: ...chapters ahead) to help you
open up the possibilit-ies to finding...
This really needs to get fixed ASAP.
Also, for those of us writing books (like I am), it would be a big help if
OpenOffice Swriter could also assist with evening out the right side of the
pages-thus avoiding the large white gaps that can occur, which is connected to
the proper and consistent use of hyphens.
Thanks,
Dan
