Bug #: 119227
Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: OpenOffice 3.2.0, Mendeley Desktop 1.3.2, Ubuntu 10.04
LTS - Black bar spans all monitors on hover and
crashes compiz
Classification: Application
Product: Word processor
Version: OOo 3.2 RC5
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P3
Component: ui
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
I am running OpenOffice 3.2.0 and Mendeley Desktop 1.3.2 on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
and just installed the citation plugin. I can insert citations just fine but am
experiencing a black stripe every time I hover over a citation. I have a dual
monitor setup and it spans both monitors all the way to the edges of the
screens. I also use compiz (http://www.compiz.org/) and this black popup keeps
crashing compiz.
I posted this issue on the Mendeley Desktop support site and got this in
response from a user:
"The thin black stripe is a tooltip. OpenOffice displays the complete content
of field codes in a tooltip when mousing over a field. Mendeley's field codes
are quite long because they include the complete details of the cited work.
Very wide windows can cause compiz to crash on some systems. I haven't
experienced this myself but some users have reported that the problem stopped
occurring for them after updating to a newer version of Ubuntu."
Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a bug in Open Office or an Ubuntu
bug?
