Please check the file integrity with the checksums, you can download them from http://www.openoffice.org/download/checksums/3.4.0_checksums.html this page also gives you information about how to verify and check the package integrity on MacOS. Select the checksum for the file you downloaded, it has the same name as the file, plus the extension, according to the check sum type.
