It shows the message which won't respond to either selection
After successfully using Open Office for several weeks I suddenly had a problem
with Open Office freezing as soon as I opened it. The above message appeared
but neither option would activate and the box remained in view, no matter which
option I selected. I could type into the document which was in the background
but I couldn’t do anything with it such as “Save” or “Save As” Another
dialogue box appeared, explaining that Open Office had quit sometime earlier
and did I want to recover the document. I pressed “yes”, or whatever was the
option and then everything stopped. I couldn’t quit the programme as the
“Quit” command was grey so each time I used “Force Quit”, but on re-opening,
still the “Restore Windows” box remains.
As before, nothing happens regardless of which box I select, “Don’t Restore
Windows”, or “Restore Windows”.
Up to this point I’d been enjoying the process of getting to know what looked
like a useful alternative to Microsoft Windows for Mac and “Pages”. I tried
reinstating the programme starting from the downloaded
Apache_OpenOffice_incubating_3.4.0_MacOS_x86_install_en-US.dmg file but the
problem remains, so my guess is there is a piece of the old programme still
lodged in my hard drive which throws up the same problem. Please tell me how
to get back to an operating programme, or you’ve lost a previously very
supportive customer.”
