My normal action:
select rows via left click the grid labels (=row numbers)
click data
click sort -- gets you to the 'sort criteria tab'
the 'sort by' fields offer the full range of rows
This time I wanted to sort only cells I selected in one column.
Defective action #1:
1 select CELLS IN ONE COLUMN
2 click data
3 click sort -- this got me to a dialog that asked me choose
between sorting only the selected cells or to extend the selection
4 I chose to sort this got me to the 'sort criteria tab'
5 the first 'sort by' field shows the DATA VALUE of the first cell
in the selection (no row references at all)
Defective action #2:
While rehearsing this for replication steps, I did the row sort described as
'normal' above. I immediately started walking through the steps to replicate
the first defective action above.
1 select CELLS IN ONE COLUMN
2 click data
3 click sort -- this time it did NOT offer the prompt to choose
between sort the current selection or to "extend". Instead,
it went straight to the sort criteria tab
4 I chose to sort this got me to the 'sort criteria tab'
5 the first 'sort by' field shows the DATA VALUE of the first cell
in the selection, as above under defective action #1 (no row
references at all)
