Moreover, my keyboard is also a Dell keyboard. It appears from your description that your keyboard functions properly with other applications. You might have custom shortcuts built-into OpenOffice using the "Home" and "End" keys preventing them from functioning the way they're supposed to. Check your keyboard shortcuts and clear any shortcuts using these 2 keys. Please let us know if that works as a solution.
