I can reproduce this behavior in AOO 3.4, 3.4.1 and in Dev_AOO350m1_r1400866,
german Versions, Win7.
Works as expected (and described for linked styles in Writer-Tutorial) as long
as the file is open.
Closing and reopening shows the bug.
Changes at "second-level-linked-styles" are saved, changes at third level
styles are resetted.
