The Open Document specifications are ambiguous in some aspects, so both LO and OOo could implement them to the letter yet render differently. See MS Office's ODF support for example. Additionally, other differences between the applications should be note as well. For instance, LO fixed a decade-old major bug in OOo: https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=5556 That bug was the reason two labs at my university could not switch to OOo. However, I understand that LO's breakneck development speed means that lots of new bugs crop up.
