I agree with this - completely.

I completely disagree with this statement. Java is wonderful on the server-side 
it is possible to write webapps that truly work on all types of servers.

If someone wants Java MS Office and ODF Tools then one might take a look at 
http://poi.apache.org/ and http://incubator.apache.org/odftoolkit/
