I'd really prefer not to do that, as I've got a longer range plan for a class similar to the Java file class. That seems like a more appropriate place for implementing a lot of new file capabilities. Right now, I was looking for something simple to fill a fairly small hole (and had an immediate use for it in our testing framework).
