I agree with Rick on this.

One thing to consider though is keeping different functional changes
in separate commits.  That way if you discover a problem withn one
functional change you can back it out without effecting other
functional changes you make.

I haven't been doing that during the large refactoring of ooDialog
I've been doing and it made it hard for me to merge several bug fix
changes I made back into 4.0.1.
