Hi,

I've done a little research, ( ok, I asked some questions on another list serve
). Mac OS X doesn't have a method to change the default paths that are used to
find libraries, other than editing the system wide profile in /etc. If
DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH is not set, then it uses
$(HOME)/lib:/usr/local/lib:/lib:/usr/lib. So based on this, and an examination
of the default path, it would make sense to me to install into /usr/local/,
/usr/local/bin, /usr/local/lib, ...

Your thoughts?

Bruce
