If the original request is to the gateway machine, then I think you can
do that with redirection by generating an HTTP response with status code
302 (or 303/307 if you want to force the the request re-issue to use
GET/POST) and with a Location header field specifying the new url to go to.

I was wondering, has anyone built a FIltering Forward Proxy Server
using ooRexx on Windows?
I hope I have my terminology correct. I want a script running on a
machine. That machine is declared as the default gateway for other
machines on the LAN.
HTTP requests to that machine are examined for url white/black lists
and if they pass are forwarded to the 'real' gateway. If not some
other action is taken.
I think it should not be too hard to do, but I'm a bit unclear.
I have the single thread server code that Mike demonstrated at his
wiki presentation a few years back and I have in the past successfully
adapted it to serve my own pages on the LAN.
I'm not sure about how the server machine would then talk to the
'real' gateway.
Using rexxCurl perhaps?
I know that it is possible to do this with 3rd party apps., but I'm
curious whether it would be possible to create something lightweight
to do this using ooRexx.
I'm also a little unsure about the single threaded nature of the
Server and what effect that would have on concurrent users.
On another note when Howard was interested in promoting Rexx, we were
always on the lookout for useful applications that were
straightforward to build in Rexx for magazine articles. It occurs to
me that if we could do this and do it well, this might be one such
application, though I fear the socket function use may be a bit
obscure for an article.
thanks for listening
