A simple "chcp 1251" isn't enough. You'd find this:

You'd also have to change the font (and know how).  Nothing that can be
asked from simple users.


But that wasn't the point I wanted to bring up. Maybe I shouldn't have
included the "example" as it – as I noted – really doesn't cover the full
story of string encoding.
