Maybe something completely keyword based?
loop with index i item v over x
The first variable name gets the value; probably worth keeping that. So all
that needs to be added is the index ? So, perhaps:
loop varo index vari over x
(maybe with a more general term for the keyword 'index', 'key', perhaps).
