No, that really won't work...this would break any existing users of message
objects. All of the state for running asynchronously is held within the
message object that does the start. That's the part that makes the object
non-reusable. The goal behind the new method is the leave the target
object in a clean state so that it can be reused, while still returning an
object that can be used to track execution.
